Our prototypes represent small vehicles which would have lost the correct sense of scale proportion had we retained the N gauge wheel standards created in the 1960s. The models therefore have NMRA fine wheel profiles giving smaller flange depth and narrower tread. Modern production techniques ensure true running and the wagons are comfortable on most proprietary trackage systems.
The limited space between the solebars dictates the use of shorter axles than most other N gauge stock but conversion to 2mm finescale standards present no problems. Axle length over pinpoints is only 13.7mm - considerably shorter than any other current manufacturer in British N and the width over solebars is only 14mm. That is almost 1.5mm less than any other current representation of wooden stock from any other manufacturer in ready to run or kit form.
Much thought was given to the coupler style. It has been decided to rely upon the Rapido purely on the basis that, more than any other, it is the current 'industry standard' for british models. To minimise its intrusive nature they have been produced in transparent plastic. This minimises their impact in a train of vehicles - the photograph above gives an impression of this but when viewed moving through a scenic landscape they are even less conspicuous.
This detail photograph of one of the models belies their true size.
